When a tooth is significantly decayed, damaged, or otherwise compromised, an extraction may be your best option for achieving optimal oral health. Dr. Gunnel may recommend an extraction when significant gum (periodontal) disease is present, when a tooth is severely damaged, or when a tooth is impacted (stuck in the mouth).
